About the Project

Designed to be the vital portal to the pedestrian and bicycle bridge that connects East and West campuses into a cohesive whole, the Nuevo West Graduate Student Housing is a mixed-use residential and common amenity program that includes two residential buildings and a market. The Nuevo West residential community provides a total of 884 new beds—804 beds for graduate student residents and 80 beds for the Patient Family House North, which accommodates the needs of family and relatives of patients being treated at the nearby UCSD Medical Center. The diverse resident population is supported by a mix of shared amenities such as a marketplace, café, activity and study rooms, music practice rooms, central plaza, community garden, outdoor cooking and gathering space, healing garden, bouldering garden and a rooftop perch.
