Calexico Land Port of Entry

About the Project

The Calexico West Land Port of Entry (LPOE) modernization and expansion is transforming one of the busiest border crossings in California and a critical gateway between the United States and Mexico. Located on a 17.8-acre site, the port processes millions of vehicles and pedestrians annually, serving as a vital link for regional commerce, trade, and workforce mobility between Calexico and Mexicali.

Delivered through multiple phases while maintaining continuous port operations, the project replaces aging infrastructure with modern inspection, administrative, and processing facilities that enhance security, efficiency, and the traveler experience. Completed work includes a new headhouse, primary and secondary vehicle inspection facilities, permanent southbound inspection lanes, expanded inspection areas, employee parking, and supporting site infrastructure. The ongoing Phase 2B effort includes a state-of-the-art pedestrian processing facility and associated technology, security, and operational systems.

Through close collaboration with the U.S. General Services Administration and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the modernization program is improving operational readiness, increasing processing capacity, and supporting the long-term mission of one of the nation’s most important international ports of entry.
