On March 29, Hensel Phelps was named one of the 2018 Best Places to Work in Hawaii. This is the first year Hensel Phelps’ Pacific District participated in the Best Places to Work in Hawaii survey, conducted by the research firm Best Companies Group. Hawaii Business Magazine has partnered with the Best Companies Group for 14 years to administer the Best Places to Work in Hawaii survey and host the annual awards ceremony to recognize the best employers in Hawaii.
The statewide survey was conducted in 2017, and winners were announced during the awards program on March 29, 2018. The 2018 Best Places to Work in Hawaii list is made up of 70 organizations, including 27 companies in the small employer category (15-49 Hawaii employees), 30 companies in the medium employer category (50-249 Hawaii employees), and 13 companies in the large employer category (250 or more Hawaii employees). Hensel Phelps has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Hawaii in the medium business category.
The results are determined by the company’s total score. Seventy-five percent of a company’s score is based on the employee’s response to 85 questions and open-ended statements regarding their engagement and satisfaction with the company. The other 25% of a company’s score is based on the employer’s benefits, policies, working conditions and special perks. Best Companies Group managed the overall process and analyzed the data to determine the final rankings.
