Hensel Helps Build 9/11 Memorial at Kennedy Space Center

Thursday September 3, 2015

The Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Fire Department hosted a ceremony on their property for a 9/11 memorial earlier this month. Hensel Phelps worked with the KSC Fire Department to help design and build this 9/11 memorial for their main fire station, which was selected to receive one of the large “I” beams from the World Trade Center towers. The fire department needed assistance building a structure that would display the beam appropriately while being structurally strong enough to hold the heavy artifact. The Hensel Phelps design included two symbolic concrete towers on which the beam was mounted. A warm thank you and congratulations to the entire team who participated in this memorable event.
