About this Project
The East County Hall of Justice is a 196,000 SF design-build project consisting of a five-story courthouse building and a two-story county Building connected by a shared lobby and security screening area. The courthouse building houses 13 criminal courtrooms and associated support spaces, while the county building provides space for the Public Defender, District Attorney and Probation Department. The project is a collaboration by the Judicial Council of California and Alameda County to replace several outdated facilities. The central holding area facilitates more efficient processing of defendants, with the new courthouse being located adjacent to Santa Rita County Jail.
