4:13 Strong Jobsite Tour

On Wednesday, February 20th, 2020, Hensel Phelps hosted a jobsite tour of the BNA Concourse D & Terminal Wing Expansion Project with six young men from the 4:13 Strong training program. 4:13 Strong provides training, skills and job placement for at-risk men in Nashville, TN. Their intense residential program gives men a lifeline to make lasting change, as they believe every man deserves a chance to reach their potential. As a part of Hensel Phelps’ workforce development program, we are committed to supporting local workforce training programs like 4:13 Strong by providing their candidates with real exposure to day-to-day construction environment activities and employment opportunities. Hensel Phelps guided the tour, along with our Trade Partners to join in explaining their trade crafts to the group.

Wolfe & Travis Apprenticeship Success

As a part of Hensel Phelps’ workforce development program efforts, some of our Trade Partners have not only committed to making local hires on our projects, they have committed to enrolling these new employees in their apprenticeship programs if they are still working after 90 days. Wolfe & Travis hired two young men they met on a Hensel Phelps jobsite tour with the 4:13 Strong training program. Almost 1 year later, both men are productive employees with Wolfe & Travis, and have enrolled in their electrical apprenticeship program.

Nashville International Airport | Concourse D & Terminal Wings Project

BNA is experiencing record growth and, in response to this growth, the Concourse D and Terminal Wings Expansion was established with two major program intents; to produce more gates for added capacity and to allow both gate and checkpoint flexibility to enable the implementation of the future Nashville Airport Terminal Lobby and International Arrivals Facility, also awarded to Hensel Phelps.

The expansion of Concourse D adds six new departures gates, the associated ramp amenities, and function space to support the gates. Also included is the renovation of a significant portion of Concourse C to allow relocation of airport operations during construction of BNA Project 1 and Project 2.

Both the North and South Terminal will be expanded for interim TSA checkpoints and future permanent ticketing check-in counters. Each expanded wing will include concessions, ATO’s, BSO’s, and bag claim devices. Throughout this process, an entirely new Central Utility Plant will be completed and transitioned out of the operating terminal to support the BNA Vision. This project will be designed to LEED v4 Certification.
