Hensel Phelps Wins 2026 Baker Tilly/AGC Build Washington Award

Hensel Phelps is proud to congratulate the University of Washington (UW) Interdisciplinary Engineering Building (IEB) design-build team for receiving the 2026 Baker Tilly/AGC Build Washington Award in the Public Building: $50M – $100M category. On January 23, 2026, the UW IEB design-build team accepted the honor at the Build Washington Awards Luncheon presented by AGC of Washington and Baker Tilly. This distinguished award recognizes projects that exhibit the highest standards of construction and safety excellence in Washington’s construction industry.

The IEB is a cornerstone of innovation and collaboration on the UW campus, bringing together students and faculty from multiple engineering disciplines under one roof. With cutting-edge laboratories, flexible learning spaces and dedicated areas for industry-sponsored capstone projects, the facility fosters an environment where education and research thrive.

Delivered by Hensel Phelps in partnership with KieranTimberlake and the University of Washington – Project Delivery Group, the project exemplifies teamwork and precision. The team prioritized sustainability, safety and efficiency throughout the planning and construction process, achieving ambitious goals while maintaining schedule and budget alignment. The building incorporates advanced energy-saving systems and was recently awarded LEED Gold certification, reinforcing UW’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
