About the Project
The National Support Center (NSC) replaced the National Computer Center (NCC) in Woodlawn, Maryland, as the Social Security Administration’s primary data center. The NSC houses and supports critical computer operations essential to providing prompt and accurate information processing and benefit payments to millions of Americans. The 285,000-SF facility complies with Mission Critical Criteria from the Uptime Institute Tier III design certification standards and contains the infrastructure necessary to support an IT load of 6 Megawatt (MW), expandable to 10 MW. Hensel Phelps’ strong commitment to sustainability helped the facility achieve LEED Gold Certification.
