About the Project

The $401 million, 431,000-SF, Southwest Airlines Terminal 1 Modernization Program has five levels at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and includes renovation of ticketing areas, departure and mezzanine levels of ticketing building, security screening checkpoints, renovation of the Terminal 1 concourse, reconfiguration of aircraft gate systems, installation of checked baggage inspection systems and facilities and installation of information technology services provided for pursuant to the lease. Terminal 6 has 13 escalators and Terminal 1 has four escalators. Once through the TSA checkpoint, passengers will experience a modern concourse with more seating, larger restrooms and updated retail shops, beverage stands and restaurants. Westfield, which is responsible for development of the terminal’s concessions, offers 24 shops, cafes and lounges, as well as upscale retail and dining establishments.
