About the Project
The $215 million, 498,151 SF, University of California, Irvine (UCI) Verano 8 Graduate Student Housing project is located on a 7.8-acre site and will feature a new complex of buildings ranging from four to six stories, that will house 1,050 residents in three different sized units. The purpose of Verano 8 is to address the need for affordable housing, satisfy graduate student housing guarantees, and secure UCI’s ability to provide services and residences to its growing graduate student population. Verano 8 will also consist of the demolition and replacement of the Maintenance & Operations facility, a new 853 stall parking garage, and a new community building comprised of lounge, social, academic, study, and spaces for events that will provide much-needed upgrades in amenities. Construction is expected to begin on the Verano 8 Graduate Student Housing in the summer of 2020 and is expected to receive substantial completion in the late summer of 2022.
