About the Project
The $10 million, 23,000-SF, New Air New Zealand ‘Star Alliance’ Lounge at the Thomas Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the first indoor/outdoor lounge at the airport. It is a haven for travelers in the new TBIT terminal. The new premium customer facility offers space for around 400 Business Class and Star Alliance Gold passengers, including an exclusive area for First Class passengers.
Designed by global architectural firm Gensler, the 18,000-SF lounge features a unique open air terrace, featuring fire pits and a water wall, offering panoramic views of the northern runway towards the Hollywood Hills. The lounge’s experience zones are designed to accommodate passenger needs ranging from social gatherings to quiet time away from home. In addition to the outdoor terrace, the lounge offers a bar area for socializing, a library space, a den, a study and a media room. Those wishing to freshen up before their flight can do so in one of eight shower rooms. Run by Air New Zealand, expect brilliant service, great food and a wonderful wine selection. The Star Alliance Lounge was listed as one of the Top 10 Premium Airport Lounges in the World. It is also the only U.S.-based lounge to make the list. Due to the logistical challenges and an international owner, this project was one of the toughest projects Hensel Phelps has been a part of.
Hensel Phelps Services is providing complete facility management, operation, and maintenance for Air New Zealand as the operator of the Star Alliance Lounge at the LAX International Terminal.
This Lounge is operational from 8:00 a.m. until 2.00 a.m. and provides daily services for over 1,500 business and first class passengers. The Hensel Phelps Team is not providing food services, but is responsible for all other aspects of the Lounge. This lounge has been ranked internationally as one of the worlds best travel lounges for four consecutive years.
