Sustainable Performance

As a leader in the growth of sustainable design and construction, Hensel Phelps has been an integral part of many of the first sustainable projects built in the United States, including some important firsts under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System™. The company’s Capitol Area East End, Block 225 project in Sacramento, California, not only became the first state-owned office building to achieve a LEED New Construction (NC) Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), but it went on to perform so well that it was recently recognized as the first state-owned office building to receive a LEED Existing Building (EB) Platinum rating.
