Asia Trail Phase 1, National Zoological Park
Washington, DC
The Asia Trail creates a geographically themed animal exhibit walk that parallels the Zoo’s famous Olmsted Walk. Beginning at the Visitor Center, the new trail meanders its way to the Panda House and includes a series of new animal exhibits for the resident Sloth Bears, Clouded Leopards, Fishing Cats, Red Pandas and Japanese Giant Salamander. The trail also features outdoor gathering and demonstration areas, water features, and themed landscaping. The Giant Panda exhibit was transformed with an addition to the existing Panda House, a new temperature-controlled Bamboo Storage building, a renovated Panda Café, and two new outdoor exhibit yards for the popular bears.
