Hensel Phelps’ Steve Phillips has been awarded the AGC of California’s Safety Professional of the Year. Steve is currently a Safety Manager at the San Francisco International Airport Projects. Characteristics that the judges evaluate include contribution to the industry as a safety professional, development of a safety culture with high employee involvement and management commitment, continuous improvement, and new or unique programs developed by the candidate. Steve received the Harry Eckstein Safety Professional Award, an annual memorial award presented to a safety professional for making a positive safety impact in the construction industry.
Hensel Phelps also received an award in the Over 1,000,000 Worker Hours, Building Division Category. Award applicants were judged on incident rates, management commitment, written procedures, employee involvement, and subcontractor management.
