Administrative Training
- F.O.G. Seminar (Field and Office Guide)
The F.O.G. Seminar is held annually for all new Hensel
Phelps Construction Co. salaried employees. It is designed to familiarize
them with the company's operations and philosophies. During this three-day
seminar, employees are exposed to all aspects of a successful operation,
from field and office engineering to project scheduling.
- Project and Office Engineer Seminars
Hensel Phelps Construction Co. offers detailed seminars
designed specifically for Project and Office Engineers. Topics include processing
submittals, the shop drawing review process, procurement of materials, processing
pay applications, and contract administration.
- CPM Scheduling Seminar
Hensel Phelps Construction Co.'s commitment to timely
project completion necessitates this annual scheduling training. This intense
three-day seminar provides the skills necessary to update and manage the
project schedule.
- Teamwork Seminar
Teamwork seminars are scheduled approximately every 18 months for employees working on the Area Superintendent, Senior Estimator, Project Manager level and above. These seminars provide comprehensive work sessions to assist all levels of supervision to perform better. In addition to the presentation of new skills and technologies, these Teamwork Seminars provide for an exchange of ideas among personnel with similar responsibilities.
- Saturday Morning Breakfast Meetings
These monthly meetings give employees the chance
to come together to hear new and exciting company business, and to learn
different perspectives from keynote speakers outside of the organization,
to address a wide variety of subjects.
- C.I.P. Training (Continuous Improvement Process)
C.I.P. is a system implemented to utilize employee
ideas. It is designed to improve project quality, safety, schedule and cost
as well as employee and owner satisfaction. C.I.P. allows input from all
employees to improve each task we perform. Over 20,000 ideas have been submitted
since 1993, resulting in documented savings of over $40 million on project
costs and for our customers.
- On the Job Training and Mentorship
Hensel Phelps is committed to helping new employees
succeed. To this end, extensive on-the-job training and assistance is emphasized.
A significant component of the training includes matching each new employee
with a mentor. This seasoned supervisor or peer provides assistance and
guidance during the new employees transition into Hensel Phelps and
helps contribute to their growth and development.
