Craft Development Program

Hensel Phelps Construction Co. is recruiting for its Craft Development Program. This program is a fast-track leadership pathway at Hensel Phelps for applicants interested in becoming leaders charged with building multi-million dollar projects. In keeping with the company’s philosophy of promoting supervisors from within, this program starts the employee in an entry level position. The employee is then selected to enter an apprenticeship program (paid by the company) while working and being paid as an apprentice. Following graduation from the apprenticeship program, fast-tracking individuals will be given every opportunity to become leaders on the jobsite and be exposed to all aspects of commercial construction in different areas of the country. As craft skills improve, so will leadership responsibility to motivate and supervise fellow employees. Leadership skills will continue to be developed through training and hands-on experience. Mastering a craft, developing leadership skills and becoming a loyal hardworking member of Hensel Phelps Construction Co. can lead to a promotion to superintendent.

Qualifications

The company’s recruiters are accepting applications from across America in search of young men and women interested in a fast-paced and profitable career in the commercial construction industry. To be eligible for the program, high school graduates must be at least 18 years old.

Interview Process

The process for choosing qualified applicants for the Craft Development Program consists of three interviews: one at the applicant’s high school, and two interviews at the prospective jobsite. Hensel Phelps will conduct a thorough background investigation, including interviewing references, teachers, former employers, community leaders and others familiar with the applicant’s skills and abilities. In addition, all applicants are required to submit to drug testing and a physical examination prior to employment.
